WORLD FOREST DAY

Today, we are observing the “World Forest Day”. The forest resources are facing multitude of decimating factors, because the world population is touching almost 9 billion. Then there are many anthropogenic and climatic factors also, causing adverse impact on forests.

The International Day of Forests, celebrated annually on March 21, raises global awareness regarding the vital importance of all types of forests and trees outside forests. It promotes actions like tree planting to combat climate change, protect biodiversity, support sustainable livelihoods for over 1.6 billion people, and strengthen food security.

India is having 86 types of forests (as classified by HG Champion & SK Seth, Forest Research Institute. 1968).. I am sharing some photographs of the India’s forests, for your delight. Completing a book, having title “Silviculture Management of Forests of India”. These photographs, shall be published in my said book. Accordingly, these photographs are under, my copyright.
